I just love any movie with Jack Nicholson! The Bucket List was no exception. I could however, do without the language…. In the movie, two terminally ill men (Edward, played by Jack Nicholson; and Carter, played by Morgan Freeman) escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die. (I wonder, did this movie spark the beginnings of bucket lists on the blogosphere?)
I’ve enjoyed reading other’s bucket lists over the years and have always wanted to create my own. Here goes…
2015 Summer Bucket List
1. Picnic at Sulphur
When my son was younger, we had a yearly picnic and swim day at Sulphur. It’s been several years since we went, mostly due to the dry weather we’ve had in Oklahoma. The springs and creek actually dried up last year! With the record breaking rains we have had this year, the springs are running and the creek is full again.
2. Visit the Chickasaw Cultural Center
I took my grandchildren to the Chickasaw Cultural Center this spring and it was so muddy from all of the rains. There is no admission to most of the area and there is so much to do. We had a blast! I can’t wait to go back when the ground is dry, and take my husband, too.
3. Declutter my Back Bedroom
I used to be a total neat freak…….. until I started working full time 19 years ago. I’ve been a homemaker now for 16 years and I’ve never regained that part of myself. I really really want to learn to let go of STUFF. Maybe I can get at least one room decluttered this summer.
4. List at Least 3 Things on eBay Each Week
I told myself earlier today that I will commit to list at least 3 things per day, but I think that’s a high goal. So, I will try to list at least 3 things per week. I can get rid of some of the things I’ve decluttered from the back bedroom that way 🙂
5. Make Sand Plum Jelly
We’re plum out (pun intended), so I have to make more. The juice from last years’ batch is in the freezer ready to go.
6. Lose 10#
That seems like a reasonable goal….
7. Eat Homemade Ice Cream
So much for that 10#
8. Eat LOTS of Watermelon
If I had to choose just one food to live on for the rest of my life, I would choose watermelon, with salt. I absolutely LOVE watermelon!
9. Take my Grandchildren to the Ocean
I had the pleasure of going to the ocean for the first time (that I really remember) the summer before last. I dream of going again. I can drive to Galveston in half a day……… I really want to watch my grandchildren play in the sand, search for seashells, and chase the gulls.
10. Lead Someone to Christ
Last, and most important. I’ve already had the privilege of leading 2 young ladies to Christ at junior camp this month. With the Lord’s help, I would like to lead another person to Him before the summer is over.
What are your plans this summer?
Do you have a bucket list?
Share your link with me in the comments section, I’d love to see it! If you don’t have a blog, what’s the ONE THING that you’d really like to do this summer? Comment below! 🙂
Great list – especially #10! I like how you have a simple list that feels do-able. I have actually never done a summer bucket list and still am not. Instead trying “Summer in the Moment” with a friend (explained here). #SITSBlogging
Thank you! If I would have made a far out there bucket list, I think I would have stressed thinking I have to get it all done. These are things I just want to do, so I may just be able to get them checked off LOL. The ocean one is the only “maybe and I hope”.
